Inspiration Software has announced that two of its visual learning software products, Inspiration 8 and InspireData, are finalists in the Software & Information Industry Association's (SIIA) 22nd Annual Codie Awards. The Codie Awards recognize 72 categories of outstanding products and services. This year's finalists represent more than 1,200 nominations, submitted by more than 600 companies — breaking the record set in the 2006 awards.

"At Inspiration Software, we work closely with the education community to develop visual learning software tools that help students build the thinking skills necessary for success in school and in life," said Mona Westhaver, president and co-founder, Inspiration Software. "It is exciting to have the most recent version of our flagship product, Inspiration, and the newest member of our family of visual learning software, InspireData, recognized by our peers in the industry."

Inspiration 8 was honored in the "Best Education Technology Solution for Productivity/Creativity" category. This category awards the best software tool for students, educators or administrators in preK-12 or postsecondary for document creation, graphics design, work organization, problem-solving or Web development. The essential tool to visualize, think, organize and learn, Inspiration 8 provides powerful support for critical thinking, comprehension and writing in all curriculum areas.

InspireData is a finalist in the "Best Science Instruction Solution" category, which recognizes the best school-based education technology solution for science or health curriculum and content for students in preK-20. Developed to extend the power of visual learning to data analysis, students in grades 4-12 use InspireData to collect, investigate and interact with data in a visual, dynamic inquiry process. They learn new ways to work with data to question, explore, solve problems and draw conclusions in science, mathematics and social studies.

In the next step of the Codie Awards process, SIIA members will select winners in each category. The 2007 Codie Awards will be presented on April 17 at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco.
