CHICAGO, IL—February 15, 2007—Harmonic Vision, a leading developer of music education software, announced that its Music Ace Maestro music theory curriculum was named a 2007 ‘Notable Computer Software for Children’ title by the Association of Library Service to Children (ALSC). Each year the ALSC recommends exemplary books, videos, recordings, and computer software for children.

When announcing the 2007 honorees, ALSC described Music Ace Maestro as, “This easy-to use music theory software gives students the ability to learn independently and at their own pace while having fun with a new game for each lesson. Skills are logically scaffolded and will suit the novice or those looking for a refresher equally well. Combining the 48 lessons from Music Ace and Music Ace 2, Maestro includes new student assessment and curriculum management tools for teachers as well as Music Doodle Pad, a program that allows students to
compose and hear their own music. This entertaining and educational software will be one that students choose to return to whether it’s assigned or not!”

Music Ace Maestro was the only ‘Music and Arts’ software recognized.

In addition to the ALSC Notable Computer Software for Children honor, Music Ace Maestro has received Technology & Learning’s 2006 Award of Excellence and a ComputED Eddie Award.

Music Ace Maestro was developed for music educators teaching the basics of music primarily to elementary and junior-high-school-aged students. It transforms music education into a fun endeavor using a computer. The self-paced lessons and games teach music students the basics needed to play any instrument. Lessons cover music theory, note reading, listening, notation, keyboard, scales, rhythm, melody, key signatures, time signatures, and harmony.

The animated tutor “Maestro Max” leads students through the interactive lessons. Students are rewarded based on their performance, and at the end of each lesson, a game reinforces the concepts learned.  Music Ace Maestro, Harmonic Vision’s latest title for music educators, runs on both Windows and Mac PCs and comes in a stand-alone version and in lab-packs or network versions supporting from five to 5,000 workstations.
