Language Arts Review 3a - Advanced Level (School Version) & Language Arts Review 3b - Advanced Level II (School Version) features an extensive "Learn the Words" sections, with over 500 words presented in syllables and over 3,000 spoken words in sentences. Students can see and hear each word and its syllables and see and hear the word used in a sentence. In addition, they can read a word definition, and read the topic rules. Following that we have our "Speed Round". This is a 1-minute flash card style drill that helps students test their understanding of the words. All scores are saved and displayed on the student Progress Report.
Here are examples of the games in LAR 3a & 3b used to reinforce, test and reward students for making their best effort to master the material along with their subjects. Stock car racing teaches writing, baseball helps with nouns, pronouns verbs and adjectives. A challenging archery game teaches punctuation and capitalization. Equally as challenging is the bowling game that reinforces reading comprehension strategies. These are only a few. There is basketball, karate, tennis, pole-vaulting, cross country running even downhill skiing and kayaking used to engage the student in their lessons and help bring life to learning. Our "Learn the Words", "Speed Round" activities and sports games all work together to provide a different look to basic language concepts, breaking through the learning barrier when other methods have failed.
These programs are especially well suited for electronic whiteboard (Mimo or SmartBoard) presentations and classroom game playing. It's been our experience that students become so engrossed in the program's activities they won't even realize that they are learning. Some of the games are so exciting that we recommend they only be used in the last hour of class.
